“Currently the Pope Targets Armenia as a Key State for the World and the Christian Community in the Caucasus”

Styopa Safaryan, political scientist,  considers visit of the Pope to Armenia a historical event of utmost importance, particularly, when the Pope mentions in his political and religious message how crucial Armenia is for the Christian world.

“State that Armenia is the first Christian state, and mention that this nation suffered greatest hardship for the religion, but maintained belief in such a complicated region, this is very important for Armenia, which is in such a political condition. I’m sure if not the Pope’s speech and condemning of the Genocide by him, probably, in Germany or any other country raising of the issue wouldn’t be that easy.

For the time being, basically, the Pope targets Armenia as a key state for the world and the Christian community in the Caucasus,” S.Safaryan stated, adding that visit of the Pope contributes to Armenia’s political security. And according to him, it depends on us how Armenia will make use of it.
