Serzh Sargsyan holds meeting with Kimberley Process Chair Ahmed Bin Sulayem

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on October 26 held a meeting with the Kimberley Process Chair, representative of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Bin Sulayem in the “Meridian” Expo Center in Yerevan. Ahmed Bin Sulayem has arrived in Armenia to take part in the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) Annual Congress from October 24 to 28.

President Sargsyan welcomed the guest in Armenia and expressed hope that Mr. Ahmed Bin Sulayem’s visit to Armenia will contribute to strengthening the cooperation within the framework of the Kimberley Process, as well as outlining and implementing bilateral mutually beneficial business projects taking into account its rich experience in the jewelry and gemstone in the United Arab Emirates. The President is confident that holding this Congress in Yerevan provides good opportunities.

Serzh Sargsyan attached importance to the Kimberley Process as a vivid example of commitment on excluding the circulation of the so-called “conflict” or “blood” diamonds by stating that the importance of the Kimberley Process is increasing especially in those days when the conflicts and new centers of tension have been increased in the world. The President said it is unfortunate that people use the natural resources not for the benefit, but for the harm.

Serzh Sargsyan said by joining the Kimberley Process in 2003 Armenia is consistent in implementing the commitments in the framework of the Kimberley Process.

The Kimberley Process Chair stated that he has arrived in Armenia as a Dubai Chamber Community representative and wants to discuss issues related to the Kimberley Process, as well as strengthening the Armenian-Emirati trade and economic ties with the Armenian Government.
