The secret of gas debt unveiled back in May

How was the gas debt worth 300 million USD accrued? And how did 155 million USD out of that become Armenia’s debt to the Russian GazProm, in lieu of which Armenia gave in 20% of ArmRuzGasArd to Russia? Due to the answers of the minister of energy of Armenia Armen Movsisyan became the most debatable themes of the economic media. However, regardless of how strange it might be the secret of this debt was unveiled in May of the current year, when it was officially announced that Armenia was buying gas at 270 USD per 1000 cubic meters. On those days the guest of Revolution TV show on Armenia TV was the director of ArmRusGazArd Vardan Harutyunyan. When asked at what price Armenia was then buying gas from Russia Harutyunyan said that we were paying 180 USD per cubic meter. He wouldn’t say how much the gas is. He would say how much we were paying. According to the State Revenue Committee the price is 240 USD. When asked how this controversy could be explained Harutyunyan said that the response to this question would be given in 2 weeks and once again reiterated that Armenia was paying 180 USD. Today it turns out that we were buying gas at a higher price but we were paying 180 USD. It means that we owe the Russian company. Thus in the second quarter of 2011 Armenia imported 776,5 million cubic meters of gas. And as we only paid 180 USD our debt is now 46,6 million USD. And starting from then it was announced that the price was 180 USD, which means that we were cheated from back then.
