Azerbaijani Army Simultaneously Operated more than 50 UAVs: Colonel Melkumyan

During the night of April 1 to 2 the Azerbaijani army, applying air force, rocket artillery and heavy weapons, implemented open attack in the southern direction of NKR. By infantry exceeding 10 times, it attacked positions of defensive space located in the southeastern direction. Senior officers, who have been in the hotlines of the four-day war, tell how our subdivisions operated.

Deputy commander of the union, Colonel Ararat Melkumyan, told “Hayzinvor”, “The adversary pursued two purposes. First, in case of succeeding and not facing oppression to advance, secondly, show its military potential. We can say for sure, that due to persistent oppression the adversary failed its first goal, however, it partially succeeded to display possibilities of its arsenal. The Azerbaijani army simultaneously operated 50 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Through airborne prospecting they attempted to damage the reserve and destroy control system. Of course, they failed. We implemented command without failures and problems. Through connection we provided uninterrupted command, which is the most crucial in this situation. In the southeastern direction the adversary took an object and failed to exercise its combat mission.”

Special units of the adversary implemented attack simultaneously on two heights, then advanced armored vehicles and succeeded in one direction. However, bending on that height, they failed to exercise a new mission. Thus, the adversary diverted from the plan. We were in nearby position, so that we may liberate the main unit. In the position, where I was, there were 8 soldiers, one brave from the other. There were 17 tanks towards the positions, and due to persistent resistance, they failed to advance. Only throughout 3 days, 8 tanks have been destroyed, mainly T-90. The young men were ready to stop tanks on the frontline, were ready to die, but not allow the technique of the adversary to approach.

I apply to my soldiers—I’m proud of you, you brilliantly performed your mission.”
