Armenia and Azerbaijan should be Flexible: Soso Tsintsadze

“Georgia is ready to support bilateral negotiations and contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Soso Tsintsadze, rector of Diplomatic Academy of Georgia, political analyst, told 168.am, touching upon disposition of Georgia’s authorities throughout Nagorno-Karabakh four-day war. Tsintsadze stated that Georgia makes efforts to have deep relations with all its neighbors.

According to him, in this very context, it’s difficult for Georgia as well, when its three partner states—Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, have unsettled issues, moreover, military clashes are recorded between Armenia and Azerbaijan from time to time. Tsintsadze stated that Georgia can’t give preference to the neither party, as resolutions with all the three states are valuable, and one relation on account of the other can’t exist. Moreover, in Georgian expert’s conviction, the first interested party on non-resumption of war is Georgia, as any war near Georgia will, first and foremost, hit Georgia both economically and politically, on account of serious Azerbaijani and Armenian presence in Georgia. “I’m sure, in case of war, serious developments will be recorded in Georgia as well, Georgia’s high-level reflection of military operations on the very first day was conditioned by that, as well as convening of Security Council and offer to the sides of holding negotiations in Georgia.

Of course, this proposal seemed ridiculous and non-real under availability of OSCE Minsk Group, however, I’m sure, this is a serious support for Georgia’s neighbors. Both Azerbaijan and Armenia know, that Georgia is next to them and supports compromise settlement. Both settlement and war on Karabakh zone, firstly, will be reflected on stability and security of the whole region, which, obviously is becaming more and more  fragile as a result of Russia’s efforts,” Tsintsadze said.

In the latter’s conviction, NK conflict should have been settled long ago, if mediators had frank desire and really supported the sides in conflict settlement, and Russia, in his conviction, isn’t such a party, as it does its best for non-settlement of the conflict. In this situation, in his conviction, the sides have just to demonstrate flexibility and quickly settle the conflict, otherwise, it’ll go on the path not shaped by them, which may have a tragic ending for the whole region. Tsintsadze said, that Georgia is ready to be a mediator in Armenia-Azerbaijan bilateral negotiations, which, maybe will pass a new impetus to the negotiations.
