Is Azerbaijan Planning Another Attack Ahead May 9?
Alexander Markarov, political analyst, touching upon movement of forces along Nagorno Karabakh—Azerbaijan contact line, told at today’s press conference, that it’s difficult to clearly say whether Azerbaijan is planning a new attack ahead May 9 or not. “I consider, before attacking Azerbaijan should do serious calculations, as, for instance, it launched another attack on May 9 and it failed, and I don’t think this is in line with Azerbaijan’s plans. They should be confident, that in case of attack they may record some success, and this nobody should guarantee. And the four-day April war is a vivid example, that reaching success is not that easy,” Markarov said.
He also touched upon meetings of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, first RA president, with Serzh Sargsyan, RA incumbent president, and Bako Sahakyan, NKR president. According to the political analyst, these meetings may be regarded in the logic that the first president intends to familiarize with the existent situation.
“We shouldn’t forget that the first president has his interest in the country’s foreign and domestic policies. We may observe those two meetings within this logic. On the whole, nobody wonders, when Armenia’s political figures depart to the Republic of Artsakh, and have some meetings. In that case we shouldn’t be surprised as well,” Markarov concluded.
