Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway to Be Put into Operation Till the End of this Year: Azerbaijani Minister of Transport
Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will be ready for operation till the end of current year. Ziya Mammadov, Azerbaijani Minister of Transport, told about this today, RIA Novosti reported.
Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is being constructed upon the accord signed between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Its total length is 826 km. According to anticipations the railway will increase trade between the states, and trade turnover will exceed USD 10 billion.
“Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project will be put into operation till the end of this year. Currently intensive operations are ongoing. Let me mention one crucial point: the project is being implemented in a territory with very complicated relief,” Mammadov said at “Transport, Transit and Logistics” international exhibition.
He considers the project is of crucial importance not only for Azerbaijan and the region, but for the whole Eurasia as well.
According to the Azerbaijani Minister, that transport corridor “Will join countries, nations and even civilizations.”
“Interest towards the project has been manifested from Central Asia to North Europe,” he said.
