American Businessmen Get Acquainted with Investments Opportunities in Armenia
Representatives of several American big companies got acquainted with the investment opportunities in Armenia during the “US Business Briefing: Armenia” conference in Yerevan, on May 18.
During the opening ceremony the Armenian Minister of Economy Artsvik Minasyan stated that the existence of trustful partnership relations is very important in terms of creating future business ties, implementing mutually beneficial projects and making long-term investments. “I am convinced that this new stage of the Armenian-US relations will contribute to the promotion of closer ties and efficient cooperation of the Armenian and American business communities, to the establishment of new mutually beneficial business relations and new fields of cooperation”, Minister said. He presented the investment opportunities in the information technology, agriculture, civil aviation and other fields.
Armenian Minister stressed the need of fight against monopolies stating that the Armenian PM gave concrete instructions to him over this issue, and works are being carried out towards that path.
US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated that one of his major objectives is the development of the bilateral economic relations. “The US Embassy together with the Ministry of Economy of Armenia conducts works towards strengthening the trade relations between the two states which will be mutually beneficial for the economies of the two states. We know that Armenian businessmen manage to sign good contracts and always try to import new products and services to the Armenian market and find new sales channels for the Armenian goods and services. Creating ties between the Armenian businessmen and several American famous companies we hope that we will witness the future expansion of the bilateral trade”, Ambassador Mills said.
Representatives of the Armenian Ministry of Economy and other state structures, the Central Bank of Armenia, Stock Exchange of Armenia, the EBRD, IMF and Asian Development Bank presented reports on the economy, and especially, on investment environment.
The one-day conference is organized by the US Embassy in Armenia, Armenian-American Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia and the Converse Bank.
