It’s Important that Ceasefire was Maintained in Nagorno-Karabakh: Medvedev

Dmitri Medvedev, RF Prime Minister, stated on the necessity of maintenance of ceasefire regime in Nagorno-Karabakh and reaching final settlement of the issue, to which Russia continues to contribute.

NK conflict settlement issue has been discussed at the meeting of Serzh Sargsyan, RA president, and Dmitry Medvedev, RF PM, today in Yerevan, RIA Novosti reported.

Medvedev stressed that Russia followed the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh and supported to settle the situation within its capabilities. “It’s important that the condition of ceasefire, which was reached, was maintained,” he said.

According to the RF PM, “Moscow welcomes the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as efforts exerted by OSCE MG to maintain the dialogue, not to allow such cases in the future, on account of the agreements reached 1994-1995.”

RA president mentioned the agreements reached in Vienna, from which—controlling monitoring of ceasefire violations on the conflict zone. “We, of course, will do our best from our side, so that violations weren’t recorded,” Serzh Sargsyan said.

He expressed hope that all the resolutions reached within MG work will be implemented. Medvedev highlighted maintenance of peace in the region and final settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“You shouldn’t have doubts, that Russia has always supported and will support to settle that complicated conflict. And now we’ll discuss what is connected to it,” Medvedev said, after which the closed meeting followed.
