Edward Nalbandian Opens the Brackets
MP Nikol Pashinyan stated at today’s NA session that the four-day war is the result of inconsistent policy of Armenia’s authorities and introduced a range of facts, in particular: proper reflection wasn’t given to Ramil Safarov’s freeing and he’s in freedom now; after negotiations over Association Agreement with the EU for a few years in one day an agreement was concluded with EEU, conditioning it by security issues, however as we saw later on, we have no security; there was no proper reflection to the downing of the Armenian helicopter, Armenia continues negotiating with Azerbaijan around Karabakh issue settlement contrary to the fact that NK is not a participant to negotiations, and MFA representatives protect Azerbaijani standpoint and state that the latter doesn’t want to negotiate with NK; adoption of report on Sarsang reservoir, shameful cancellation of the meeting of EEU PMs, which hasn’t been given proper reply as well.
“You and Serzh Sargsyan stated that in case of military operations NK independence will be recognized. We faced the April four-day war and lost 800 hectares, what should be considered a wide-scale operation so that we took steps?” Pashinyan asked, stressing that actions didn’t follow the statements of the Armenian side, “Don’t you think that Armenia’s inconsistency was at least one of the reasons, which led to war.”
Edward Nalbandian, RA MFA, reflected that equivalent response by the Armenian side has always been given. He disagreed with the analysis that Azerbaijan attempted to record diplomatic success in the battlefield, but, according to him, war is resumed by the defeated side.
In his words all international structures strictly condemned that shameful incident, “Do you think that those reflections come from the air or they sit and analyze, and then give that reflection? Yes, it’s the result of our work.”
Touching upon the issue of NK being a party to negotiations, he a bit opened the brackets: in all the documents discussed until now and were kept in Vienna, there is one point, that NK should participate in negotiations and without NK development and signing of any document is impossible.
“In fact, you didn’t answer to my question, and just delivered remarks and rather boring ones,” Pashinyan said, again insisting that all the activities by Azerbaijan have been counteracted by the Armenian side by statements only. He again asked when the statements would turn into actions regarding NK recognition.
“What’s your proposal? That we downed two helicopters?” Nalbandian hesitated.
“Yes,” Pashinyan replied.
Nalbandian stated that he opened the brackets, that in all the documents NK participation has been enshrined. According to him, the war was suspended by the international community and the Armenian side couldn’t do anything else.
