Who is the Person from the List of Biggest Taxpayers to Pay AMD 547 mln?
A noteworthy name was found in the list of biggest taxpayers issued by RA State Revenue Committee—Markosyan Gagik.
He is noteworthy by the fact that this person paid AMD 547.8 million to the state budget in the period of January-February 2016, and was the 113th in the list.
To imagine what a serious tax revenue it’s in Armenia, it should be taken into consideration that much tax was also paid by “Security dream” company (installation and exploitation of speedometers).
However, this isn’t the only noteworthy point. This person is missed in the list of the previous year’s taxpayers. And personal data of individual entrepreneur Gagik Markosyan registered in the State Register don’t coincide with this person—TIN is different.
We decided to apply to Google’s help. Finally, if the person pays taxes with the amount more than USD 1.1 million in half a year, his name will probably be noticed there. Frankly speaking, we expected that the name of any big, but unknown businessman will be found.
However, on a half-year basis Gagik Markosyan was the former director of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). It’s this very person, who was accused of extortion of large amounts from Armenian NPP. Note, pursuant the statement issued by the National Security of Armenia (NSS) CEO of “Armenian Nuclear Power Plant” CJSC G.Markosyan, Commercial Director R.Movsesyan, Deputy Director of Finance and Economy M.Movsisyan and Head of the Procurement Department E.Ghazaryan, by initiating an organized criminal group and using their positions, caused the state losses of more than AMD 783 million.
We again observed the list of biggest taxpayers. It turned out that taxes paid by this person are neither direct taxes (profit tax, income tax) nor indirect (VAT, excise tax). They are all under the Article “other taxes and mandatory fees.” This is rather rare case.
Then we again observed the statement by NSS. There is an interesting formulation—the loss caused to the state with the total amount of AMD 783 million 586 thousand has been totally remunerated.
Combining all these, it may be supposed—it refers that very Gagik Markosyan. Particularly, when the patronymic also coincides. And the explanation is that he paid AMD 547.8 million to compensate losses caused to the state. And naturally, it was enshrined in taxes.
We don’t insist that it’s so, and if it turns out that the person paying AMD 547.8 million is another Gagik Markosyan and has nothing to do with the story of Armenian NPP, we’re ready to submit his clarification.
