Missing Person of Ararat Province of Armenia Appeared in Azerbaijani Territory
The Azerbaijani media reports a resident of Ararat province of Armenia has crossed the border in Nakhijevan and appeared in the Azerbaijani territory. The Azerbaijani commission on prisoners of war, missing persons also confirmed the news. The Azerbaijani media presented the man’s namesurname in a different way.
In one case they wrote Henrikh Agetyan, in the other Henrik Agetsyan. “Armenpress” managed to check the real name-surname of the person: he is Henrik S. Aghekyan (born in 1954), a resident of Aygepat village of Ararat province of Armenia. He likely has crossed the border on August 7.
Head of the working group of the Armenian State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons Armen Kaprielyan told “Armenpress” H. Aghekyan’s relatives have already submitted a request that he has left the home. Aghekyan suffers from mental illness, previously he has tried to cross the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, but the Armenian side prevented his action.
“Clarifications are made under what circumstances he disappeared. After receiving the information on being found in the Azerbaijani side, we immediately start the negotiation process and demand to return our citizen. We hope this will happen within a reasonable timeframe. I don’t think the process will be delayed since Azerbaijan cannot use people with mental illness for political purposes. Such people are not accountable for the actions, they do not even realize what direction they are going. In any case the country, where a person crossed the border, makes certain clarifications which can last from 1-2 days up to several weeks”, Kaprielyan said.
