Russian Side always Keeps in Touch with Lawyer of Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan, Arrested in Baku

The Russian side does not consider the issue of arrest or providing support to Russian citizen Marat UeldanovGalustyan in Baku in the context of national issues, “Armenpress” reports, Russian MFA’s official representative Maria Zakharova said.

“We have provided detailed explanations over it to the media. We do not consider this issue on a national basis. For us the Russian citizens are not divided on national basis,” Zakharova said.

She said the representatives of the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan met Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan, but he has not expressed any complaint and additional wish. Zakharova said the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan always keeps in touch with his lawyer.

Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan has been arrested on June 9 under the Article of 234.4.3 of the Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code which proposes punishment for illegal preparing, producing, acquiring, maintaining and transferring large amount of drugs. His sister Mariana Mirzoyan insists that false charge has been accused against his brother, and it is already one and a half months they have no information about him. Earlier she also informed that during that period the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan has not visited his brother.

Earlier the Russian MFA told “Armenpress” that necessary measures are being taken towards the protection of rights of the Russian citizen. “We are taking measures towards the Russian citizen’s protection of rights set by the law regardless of his nationality within the framework of the international law and bilateral agreements”, the Russian MFA’s statement says.

The letter of the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan addressed to Mariana Mirzoyan says the Russian Embassy’s representative has visited her brother Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan.
