Ruben Shukhyan: Paul McCartney in Tehran during the meeting with Vigen Terterian

Facebook user, historian Ruben Shukhyan posted a historical photo with the following comment,

“Let’s introduce a noteworthy photo on less known prominent fact on Paul McCartney’s visit to Tehran.

And the story was the following: in early 1968 musicians of world-famous Beatles toured to India. And on their way back Paul McCartney and actress Jane Asher (they were engaged then) stayed in Tehran for two days.

During that short private visit Paul and Jane also met Iranian-Armenian well-known pop singer Vigen Terterian. In the photo—Vigen Terterian with the guitar (1929-2003), whose contemporaries called him the “Sultan of Persian Jazz.”
