Addressee of the statement by John Kerry is Azerbaijan: D.Babayan
“War is beneficial neither to mediators, nor to Aliyev,” NKR president’s spokesperson David Babayan told 168.am, reflecting to the reasons of tension on the contact line. Yesterday NKR Defense Ministry press service issued a statement, pursuant which the situation has sharpened on the contact line.
David Babayan stated that he has repeatedly mentioned that there are no clear reasons for tense situations on the contact line. In his words, reason for tension from time to time is one—essence of the Azerbaijani state: criminal, fascist, terrorist.
“Imagine that the prisoner leaves the prison, and doesn’t do anything for a few days, months, but not for the reason that he has changed, simply he restrains himself, likewise subjects can’t but do bad things. The same is about Azerbaijan. There is not a single example, when such fascist, terrorist states pursued policy, based on humanity, international norms and rights.
It’s true, other circumstances are available here as well, which create proper occasion for Azerbaijan to repeatedly pursue such destructive policy. The most important here is socio-economic condition in Azerbaijan: the state apparently enters a new phase of economic crisis, military expenditures have been shortened for the first time throughout last 10 years, serious social issues are available as well, tension is observed with minorities.
Along with this, Azerbaijani authorities launched a referendum, which de jure established a khanate governance system in the country. This couldn’t but instigate discontent among the public, which, sooner or later, will find its expression. To prevent it they pursue the policy of activation of external enemy threat. It should also be stated that Denver recognizes Artsakh Republic, and this is another reason for their destructive policy,” David Babayan said, adding that in its turn, the April war showed that the Azerbaijani side isn’t able to win the war, as a result of which its initiated blitzkrieg has failed.
David Babayan believes that armaments demonstrated on the occasion of 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence had its impact as well, which once again proved unreality of the conflict military settlement.
David Babayan negatively replied to the question whether the existent situation may instigate Azerbaijan initiate wide-scale operations. He considers, it’s clear that during the last presidential meetings main topic for discussions were/will be installation of investigative mechanisms, as it’s useless and impossible touching upon political issues, out of which it may be supposed that the Azerbaijani side wreck the possibility of presidential meeting.
“It was also reflected in the statement by the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who stated that the sides aren’t ready for the settlement, which was fact recording.
Addressee of the statement by John Kerry was Azerbaijan. However, it’s important that any mediator, leading power isn’t interested in a wide-scale war, moreover, on account of all the difficulties recorded in Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, as complicacy here may generally have unpredictable implications, even boost clash between the superpowers, and nobody would like it. Apparently, Azerbaijan will proceed with its terrorizing steps, however, our army is ready and will do its best to give a proper response to its adversary, if the latter attempts to arise any threat to our state,” Babayan said.
In his words, mediators have mechanisms, through which they prevent war, keep balance in the region between Armenian states and Azerbaijan. “They don’t want to face hardship due to Aliyev. However, Aliyev himself isn’t interested in that war,” David Babayan concluded.
