Armenia’s role under Russia’s new economic status is growing rather seriously: Artur Atayev

“Armenia is a special partner for Russia,” Artur Atayev, chief of the Caucasus Studies Centre at the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, told at the discussion on “Russia-Armenia cooperation: ongoing situation and perspectives.”

He stressed that Armenia’s role under Russia’s new economic status grows rather seriously. In his words Armenia may fill the certain part of the gap, emerged as a result of Western sanctions imposed against Russia.

“When under the existence of sanctions we can’t buy certain micro schemes, mechanisms, banned to import Russia, as a result of which Russia’s sovereignty, defensive industry suffers serious losses. Armenia for us is becoming a special partner, and here our institute offers uncovering the basis Armenia has, including intellectual, military-technical and use that resource, as here relations may be reflected, which are called friendly and partnership,” Atayev said.
