I’m opening the closed page of my political activity: Gagik Tsarukyan

Dear compatriots,

You know, that I have never strived for power, I repeatedly stated and I continue saying: I don’t intend to take any position for the sake of glory and personal ambitions. After the well-known events of February 2015 I closed the page of my political activity, not allowing that people’s peaceful and rightful outbreak turned into confrontation and bloodshed. I would never forgive myself for possible human losses and I’m thankful, that people understood me.

I don’t regret that at that stage of political developments, when people’s unconditional support was obvious, we were able to make a proper decision, avoiding bloodshed and irreversible losses, didn’t put stability and security of Artsakh under threat.

After my decision no political power and figure was able to fill the gap, emerged in the political field. I leave assessment of some political leaders and figures, made those days, to the judgement of the public and the God.

I would refrain from participation in political processes, if I saw and was sure that our country is moving on a correct direction, economy is developing, and level of people’s well-being is raising. Unfortunately, we have large volumes of migration, weak and sick economy, constant growth of poverty, high level of unemployment and distrust towards the future.

I can’t be indifferent towards the fortune of my people, in particular, when every single day thousands of citizens apply, urging to return to politics. My party friends from “Prosperous Armenia,” with whom I have passed a long way, apply to me, representatives of political parties and social organizations, who are sure, that my return will help to recover this difficult situation, apply to me as well. Throughout recent months I had meetings with representatives of Diaspora’s social and political, business circles and intellectuals, who also urge me to return to politics.

Even in case of being actively engaged with politics I didn’t stop philanthropy, showing that in it political purpose or pretext always lacked, like some attempt to introduce. However, no matter how balanced the volume of my charity will be, it can’t solve all the issues our people face. We should develop a society not waiting for charity, but develop necessary conditions for the development of economy and creation of workplaces.

Parliamentary elections of 2017 will be fatal for Armenia’s future.

On account of internal and external challenges our country faces, as well as the public demand on my return to politics, I announce, that I’m opening the closed page of my political activity and I will participate in the Parliamentary elections 2017, by developing a wide alliance. Our doors are always open before political powers and figures, who are concerned about the future of our country.

We can, we have the big internal potential for the development and strengthening of our country.

I have a duty before my people.

This crucial decision of my life is my cross, which I will bear until the end of my life for the sake of Armenia and people of Armenia.
