Armenian Army boots must become international brand: Vigen Sargsyan
Vigen Sargsyan, Defense Minister of Armenia, concluded 118 days of his officiating. The Minister highlighted his two working visits to the Defense Army, where issues, plans have been thoroughly discussed, CSTO Council session of Defense Ministers was launched in Yerevan, his official visits to Russian Federation, Greece, Georgia have been recorded, these days his official visit to Iran will take place as well.
Sargsyan stressed one of the priorities of the defense ministry is transforming the Monte Melkonyan College into the leading and strongest educational institution. “We think that future officers must have the chance to get high quality and competitive education,” Sargsyan said. The Defense Ministry has no doubt that without skilled officer personnel, without the most educated and comprehensively trained officer personnel their works won’t be effective. The minister said they will greatly focus on the military education institutions. “Already in September we will be able to have a competitive and positive environment for the youth who will continue their education in this direction,” the Minister said.
Vigen Sargsyan highlighted establishment of a fund insuring dead and disabled officers, as well as serious review in the purchase procedure.
“We should be able to develop clearer procedures, which make corruption risks impossible during organization and implementation of purchase,” The Defense Minister said.
Vigen Sargsyan also touched upon the quality of the Armenian Army boots, stating that he wants them to be an internationally recognized brand.
“This is a very important issue for us, and we already have certain results at this path. We have already made certain changes, and now the boots are more comfortable since they are made of natural leather, but it is not enough. We have many serious traditions of shoemaking, and my wish is that the boots in our armed forces must be an internationally recognized brand,” the Defense Minister said, adding that everything must be done in order not only the soldiers, but also ordinary citizens wear those boots. “We want to create a new model which will be convenient for our servicemen”, he said.
