There is no alternative to NK conflict settlement negotiations: Nalbandian

“Last diplomatic year was full with challenges,” FM Edward Nalbandian told reporters today. The FM particularly pointed at the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan on NK conflict zone.

To the question at which stage the process of implementation of agreements reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg is the Minister said Azerbaijan continuously attempts to prevent efforts of Armenia and OSCE Minsk Group, directed at exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict. According to him Azerbaijan questioned the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements, or distorted them to such extent that now the co-chairing countries are forced to repeat that the ceasefire regime must unexceptionally be maintained, that the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements must immediately be realized – regarding the introduction of investigation mechanisms of incidents and expanding the office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in Office.

He believes this isn’t the first time that Azerbaijan refuses to fulfill its assumed responsibilities.

“I can bring a line: summits, conferences, meetings on ministerial level, they were coming to an agreement, taking a step, however, there is no alternative to negotiations, Armenia continues its efforts with the Co-Chairs to find a settlement, which will strengthen rights and security of NK people, this is the reason, that negotiations should continue,” Edward Nalbandian said.
