Son arrested on suspicion of murder of 72 year-old resident of Martuni

Investigation is conducted in Martuni Investigative Division of Gegharquniq Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find circumstances of murder of 72 year-old resident of Martuni town.

On June 18, 2017 a call was received from the resident of Martuni town informing that the 47 year-old resident of the same town attacked his mother in their flat.

The investigatory-operative group immediately left for the site and in one of the bedrooms of the mentioned flat the body of the 72 year-old woman was found who, pursuant to initial data, had been strangled.

A criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Martuni Investigative Division of Gegharquniq Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. A cable stretched to the woman’s neck, as well as an open injury on the jaw to the jaw bone was found.

Through the criminal case actual data were obtained on the allegation that violence had been used against the elderly woman by her son who then escaped. In the result of operative measures on the same day the 47 year-old man was found. The latter was arrested on suspicion of committing crime envisaged by the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code and was questioned.

Forensic examinations were commissioned to find a number of circumstances significant for the criminal case. Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
