PM tasks to take measures to develop new, ambitious anti-corruption strategy

During today’s government session Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan gave instructions to sum up the results of anti-corruption strategy and develop a new strategy.

The PM recalled that Armenia’s anti-corruption strategy has been adopted in 2015. “During this period a number of anti-corruption actions have been taken by the government’s initiative. Some actins deriving from the strategy are still on process, but at this stage it’s necessary to take measures to develop a new, ambitious anti-corruption strategy and also install monitoring and results assessment mechanisms for the implementation of new strategy”, the PM said.

Taking into account this, he tasked the heads of republican executive bodies to complete the works on developing the necessary legislative packages deriving from the anti-corruption strategy within the set timetables, develop proposals within 30 days over a new anti-corruption strategy and submit them to the justice ministry.

The justice minister was tasked to take measures to develop a new, ambitious anti-corruption strategy, to concretely target new spheres, monitoring and assessment indicators, as well as to take concrete steps to prevent corruption and increase the effectiveness of investigation of corruption crimes. There is also a task to engage civil society representatives, businessmen and other concerned sides in the document preparation works.
