Banditry against taxi driver revealed; charge pressed
In the result of measures of great volume taken in the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee banditry committed against 43 year-old driver was revealed; charge was pressed.
On February 15, 2018 a call was received from 43 year-old man informing that his mobile phones and money were stolen from him by threatening to use violence dangerous for life and health.
A criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. An investigatory plan was worked out and investigatory and operative-searching measures of great volume were taken to reveal the banditry.
Through preliminary investigation it was found that 43 year-old man – the resident of Kotayk A. Hunanyan in his car carried out passenger transportation on a private basis. On the day of the incident – on February 15 at about 01:20 at the junction of Kievyan and Orbeli Streets of Yerevan a passenger got into the injured party’s car of “Opel Astra” make and ordered to leave for the village of Yeranos of Gegharkunik region. On the way the passenger gave the driver coffee after which on Yerevan-Sevan road the driver felt bad, he slept and the passenger drove the car. Actual data were obtained that the mentioned person stopped the car at the area of cemetery of Qanaqer administrative district and threatening to use violence dangerous for life and health against the driver who was awake but physically weak swindled the cash money and two mobile phones he had.
In the result of taken measures the passenger was identified; he is a 40 year-old man registered in Gegharkunik region. The latter was found and on the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against him according to the Part 1 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.
The defendant was questioned. Pursuant to his testimony a psychotropic drug had been added to the driver’s coffee. Forensic medical and forensic chemical examinations were commissioned.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
