Criminal case initiated on hindrance to professional activity of journalist

A criminal case was initiated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on hindrance to legal professional activities of journalist.

On March 15, 2018 the article published in «Fnews.am» informative site was received in Ararat Regional Investigative Department from Prosecution Office. The article informed that journalist Gayane Zargaryan was pursued while shooting. On the same day necessary steps were taken to verify the circumstances mentioned in the article, the journalist was invited to the investigative department.

During preparation of materials the journalist insisted on the circumstances mentioned in the article and told that while shooting the house of former Chief of RA Police, currently NA Deputy A. Sargsyan, located in Kanachut community, her professional activity was hindered.

Considering that in the materials there are apparent crime elements envisaged by the Part 1 of the Article 164 of RA Criminal Code on March 16 a criminal case was initiated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department. By the instruction of the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing in the RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases.

Necessary investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case, the videos related to the incident have become a subject of investigation.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
