“Spitak” film wins top prize at international film festival in Russia

The Spitak movie, which tells about the December 7, 1988 devastating earthquake in Armenia, has won the top prize at the “17 Moments” 3rd International Film Festival named after famous Soviet Russian actor Vyacheslav Tikhonov, TASS reports.

Directed by Russian filmmaker Alexander Kott, the movie also received awards for best director and best composer.

Soloist of System of a Down, American-Armenian rock singer Serj Tankian has been named the best composer.

Spitak tells about the 1988 devastating earthquake that rocked Armenia, killing tens of thousands.
