When will Free Economic Zone with Iran Function in Meghri?

The idea of establishing free economic zone with Iran in Meghri was born long ago, however, it hasn’t been recorded. As Artsvik Minasyan, RA Minister of Economy, told reporters today after the Cabinet meeting this crucial agreement was reached in EEU Commission based on proposal by RA Prime Minister.

“Development of free economic zone with Iran, in particular, on the border, will provide the opportunity to establish a good Iran-EEU platform for rendering service, as well as we may more expand both production and export of commodities produced here, making use of GSP+ regime with the USA, EU, Switzerland, Canada, Japan,” A.Minasyan said.

The Minister hesitated to state when free trade zone will function, he only stated that they attempt to possibly accelerate the process.
