Criminal case initiated on newly born baby’s death in medical center

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee necessary measures are taken to find out circumstances of newly born baby’s death in medical center.

On October 20, 2018 a report was received from the citizen informing that on the same day his wife gave birth in “Shengavit” medical center and during delivery the newly born baby died because of doctors’ failure.

Considering that in the materials prepared on the base of the report there are apparent crime elements envisaged by RA Criminal Code a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code.

Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to find out the causes of newly born baby’s death.

Forensic medical examination of the body was commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the criminal case, the pregnancy card of the woman who had given birth was confiscated from hospital.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Investigatory actions of great volume are conducted to provide the objective and comprehensive investigation of the case.

Additional information about the procedural decisions made on the base of the obtained evidence, criminal legal assessments will be provided.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
