There are no clear dates for the presidential meeting: J.Warlick

“We want to see political will in the sides and we think the Presidents will have an occasion to meet soon,” OSCE Minsk Group co-chair James Warlick (USA) told a press conference in Yerevan today, reflecting to the agenda of his visit and the ongoing situation in NK conflict settlement process.

James Warlick informed that the first stop of their visit was Baku, where they met Azerbaijani president and the FM, then headed for NK, where they met the de facto authorities, and arrived in Yerevan through Kelbajar today, for which Ambassador Warlick is ready. In his words, the co-chairs are waiting for their meeting with Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan, new Defense Minister, as well as FM.

James Warlick informed that they came to the region for a few purposes. Firstly, according to him, they should speak of respect towards ceasefire maintenance and in his assessment, it’s satisfactory, that after April ceasefire was mainly maintained, although there were incidents and they intend to speak with the sides on it, they’re aware of the tension in the contact line and on the border. Second reason of their visit, according to Warlick, is their intention to implement high-level agreements reached by the presidents in Vienna and St. Petersburg. “We touch upon implementation of those agreements. We’ll continue discussions with President Sargsyan as well. As mediators, we work towards lasting peace in Karabakh conflict zone. Hopefully the dialogue will be held at a high level, I consider, the presidents will have the opportunity to meet as soon as possible,” Warlick said. The latter stated that there are no clear dates for the visit. However, in his conviction, in case of a political will such a meeting is possible to organize in a short period.
