National shame
“The voting of Armenia regarding the Crimea conflict at the UN GA was a real shame for Armenia. Nothing like that has ever happened during our independence period. We have never appeared in such a slave status,” yesterday stated NA MP, former foreign affairs minister Alexander Arzumanyan.
Arzumanyan emphasized that in the past Armenia has appeared in similar situations but it was able to avoid shame and appear in a neutral position. “No matter who the leader is, whether you are legitimate or not this is a much higher matter than that and it depends on us whether we will tolerate this or not. In 1991 we declared our independence and didn’t wish to be considered among such countries as Zimbabwe.
This contradicts the principles and goals of our independence, the heroes, who are buried in Yerablur,” stated Arzumanyan. Other politicians also adverted to this matter. Specifically, leader of the SDU party Paruyr Hayrikyan stated that after March 27 Armenia is facing a new problem – get rid of the authorities. “We should publicly announce that this government doesn’t belong to us. They belong to Putin but if we don’t do with at least 100 people, it would me that this is the Armenian people. Serzh Sargsyan is the Armenian people,” stated Hayrikyan.
