“No VAT Charging in Importing Cars form EEU Member Countries since 1 January 2017”: Vakhtang Mirumyan

Under current legal framework VAT is charged in importing cars from Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries. This was stated by Vakhtang Mirumyan, RA Deputy Finance Minister, at today’s NA session.

He noted, that until 1 January 2017 a transfer period has been defined, and starting from that date, importing a car from EEU member countries, VAT won’t be charged to the tax inspection. In V.Mirumtan’s words no customs duties are charged in any case.

Mkrtich Minasyan, RPA MP, told, that for instance, today no tax free system is applied among the countries, whether the same order will be implemented for EEU or not.

V.Mirumyan replied, that it was and would be implemented in Armenia, as legislations of the Republic of Armenia and EEU allow a member county to decide upon implementing tax free system or not, “We defined it by legislation and didn’t anticipate limitations, yes, redemption is implemented in case of purchasing any good from Armenia by citizens of other EEU member countries.”
