CSTO PA in Yerevan to Focus on Fight against Terrorism
Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will be held in Yerevan on 11-12 March. Issues of fighting against international terrorism and threats of extremism will be discussed at the session.
Chairman of the CSTO PA permanent commission on defense and security issues, the State Duma deputy Anatoly Viborni told “Ria Novosti” that “at the end of the last year threats stemming from terrorism and extremism have intensified. Among other problems, those threats are evidently most actual. Hence, the measures the CSTO plans to undertake to countermeasure those threats and prevent them will be the top topic of the discussions”.
Viborni added that the issue of CSTO priorities with Armenia as the presiding country over the Organization will be touched upon as well.
The Chairman of the CSTO PA permanent commission on defense and security issues also informed the agency that they will pay a special focus to NGOs receiving funding from abroad, as well as “the combat readiness of our units in regard of preventing infiltration of illegal armed groups, subversive actions and trafficking”.
