US Department of State Issues Travel Warnings to Avoid Visiting Turkey
Americans have been issued a travel warning to avoid visiting the southeastern part of Turkey, the Department of State announced.
“Given the recent terrorist attacks and increased threats from international and indigenous groups, US citizens should exercise caution when traveling throughout the country,” the statement explained.
Recent terrorist attacks from international and indigenous groups have targeted popular tourist sites, US government buildings, police and other local authorities throughout Turkey, the State Department noted.
Travel restrictions remained in place for US government employees against visiting the provinces of Hatay, Kilis, Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Sirnak, Diyarbakir, Van, Siirt, Mus, Mardin, Batman, Bingol, Tunceli, Hakkari, Bitlis, and Elazig, the advisory noted.
