Vartan Oskanian Lies: Andranik Kocharyan
“Vartan Oskanian lies, with his actions he proved that he didn’t do any positive action connected to March 1, I don’t believe him,” Andranik Kocharyan, former member of March 1 fact-finding group, Head of National Center for Democracy, Security and Development, expressed his standpoint in an interview with 168.am.
Note, today Vartan Oskanian, RA former Minister of Foreign Affairs, “Prosperous Armenia” Party MP, stated that agenda of the political party to be founded by him will be uncovering of March 1 case.
A.Kocharyan considers this step by V.Oskanian a populist one. According to him V.Oskanian tries to get rid of his possible engagement with March 1 developments. “So, if Vartan Oskanian says this, I don’t believe in his words. He should prove that by his action, he should find lots of facts for himself, and should introduce to the public what decision he and Robert Kocharyan made within that staff,” he noted.
To our clarifying question, it means he equally shares responsibility for March 1, A.Kocharyan replied, “By his part, as a Minister of Foreign Affairs, how much information he gave both to our and international community, keeping Ambassadors of different countries disoriented, and as a result, he should also bear responsibility for what had happened.”
Note, V.Oskanian also states that he tried to prevent events, “I’m advantageously distinguished from other politicians, who assumed that responsibility, I had the courage to stand before the camera and call on RA president and opposition to enter into a dialogue , so that we avoided March 1.”
In this regard A.Kocharyan said V.Osknian’s all speeches are available on the internet, thus he called on watching them, where those appeals are found, “What kind of calls is he speaking of? By his actions he didn’t contribute to prevention of March 1 clash, he, as a Minister of Foreign Affairs, could have helped to avoid the clash, but he didn’t take any step in this direction. He, Tigran Torosyan, the then Minister of Internal Affairs, lots of officials, which bear the responsibility, together with Robert Kocharyan.”
According to A.Kocharyan everything has been implemented to serve Robert Kocharyan’s will, and this was against the Constitution and laws. “Oskanyan shouldn’t lie to the public. I don’t believe anything he says on March 1, if he has something to say, he’d better go to RA Prosecutor and introduce circumstances, which nobody has revealed before, generally what issues have been discussed, which was a result of March 1, exactly what orders were given to Vartan Oskanian by Robert Kocharyan, and which keeps whole international community in uncertainty.”
