Reporters Injured During the Clashes Overnight on Khorenatsi Street: Ombudsman
Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan says incidents of violence against reporters are unacceptable. The Ombudsman’s office issued an announcement:
“Several reporters were injured during the clashes overnight on Khorenatsi Street. This is strongly condemnable not only as a manifestation of violence in general, but also as a strongly negative occurrence in terms of obstruction of activities of mass media.
I remind you, that obstructing the professional responsibilities of reporters is a criminally punishable offense, regardless whether the perpetrator is a representative of a state agency or a civilian at the rally.
In this regard, all materials that we possess will be sent to relevant law enforcement agencies. I ask all those who have information or footage on violence against reporters to give them to us, in order for the activities which are carried out within the boundaries of the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction to bear priority nature.”
