“Serzh Sargsyan recently signed one legal document, it’s the protocol signed in St. Petersburg during the meeting with Aliyev, and everything is enshrined in it. Today OSCE MG U.S. Co-Chair appeared with a statement that they’re organizing a meeting, which should touch upon the monitoring group, the necessity of such conditions, in case of which the ceasefire will be possible to maintain, only after that shift to conflict peaceful settlement process is anticipated.”
“If the authorities remain on their positions and don’t intend to go to an essential compromise, naturally, this means, they can’t leave the situation last long and simply will seek for a proper moment to attack, which we understand will have a tragic development and tragic ending. However, in any case, I want to hope that negotiations will move to the political field and will be exactly negotiations and not talks around some conditions with the participation of mediators, which can’t provide any result.”
“Lessons should have been learned long ago. Russia should have contacts in Armenia, not only with the leading group, but with a wider layers of Armenia’s society—universities, mass media, human rights organizations, NGOs, all political powers. Russia should understand that Armenia is not only Serzh Sargsyan. I don’t say Sargsyan is a bad or a good one, it should be decided by the people of Armenia. You should decide and clarify, but we should understand that Armenia is not him, his group and supporters.”
The Investigative Committee continues the preliminary investigation on the July 20 riots. Based on evidence, charges were filed against six people for taking part in the mass disturbances (Criminal Code Article 225, Point 2), destruction of property and violence against police officers.
The National Security Service of Armenia on July 25 has sent a call to the gunmen, who stormed the Police HQ on July 17, making it available for them. The text was published by Ashot Aharonyan, Head of the Public Relations and Press Department of the Armenian Police, on Facebook.
The statement says that President Sargsyan personally will be responsible for possible bloodshed and urges to supply the group with food, water and medicine as well as medical assistance. They urged the people of Armenia to gather on Khorenatsi Street to determine the future actions.
Delivering his speech on Khorenatsi street, Founding Parliament member Alek Yenigomshyan said, to shake the movement the leadership was applying to the policy of lie. And he denied V.Balasanyan’s statement that “Sasna Tsrer” group is going to lay down the arms. Yenigomshyan also denied the statement by Vitaly Balasanyan, according to which Jirair Sefilian doesn’t demand Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation anymore, “Vitaly Balasanyan distorted the reality. I was also present during that talk and that expression is out of the context,” Yenigomshyan said.
