Turkish reporter, who visited Armenian Genocide Memorial, has been detained in Turkey
IPI Executive Board Member and Cumhuriyet daily’ Editorial Consultant, journalist and columnist Kadri Gürsel, who visited Genocide memorial in Armenia, has been detained, bianet.org reported.
He has been detained in the operation on oppositional Cumhuriyet daily.
According to Miliyet, the Police arrested 13 executives and columnists of Cumhuriyet daily, who are accused of having relation with oppositional figure Fethullah Gülen’s movement.
Kadri Gürsel, who is also a columnist, is the author of numerous articles devoted to Armenia-Turkey relations settlement. In one of his articles, he called on the Azerbaijanis to forget about Nagorno Karabakh.
During his visit to Yerevan, he laid flowers in Tsitsernakaberd, Armenian Genocide Memorial.
He was born in 1961 in İstanbul. He started working as a journalist in 1986 in Ankara for the weekly Yeni Gündem news magazine. His main focuses were Turkish foreign policy and world news.
After Yeni Gündem, he worked as an editor and reporter in Cumhuriyet daily, Sabah daily and Nokta magazine, as well as worked for the Agence France-Presse (AFP).
