Donald Trump’s triumph is a signal: Suren Zolyan

Suren Zolyan, former Rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University after V.Brusov, Doctor in Political Science, considers that the Armenian Community in the U.S. isn’t participating in elections held in the USA, as it’s “disappointed.”

He stated that he followed statements by the U.S. presidents on the Armenian Genocide both in pre- and post- election period, “Barak Obama clearly stated: the USA needs to have such a president, who will sincerely speak of genocides, and I’ll be the president, who will first and foremost, recognize the Armenian Genocide. One couldn’t give a more clear promise, and we saw how he avoided implementation of that promise, instead, he was speaking of the Armenian Genocide, which has other importance, it’s not an internationally recognized term. Naturally, the Armenian Community could have been disappointed and no matter what promise the candidate might give, they wouldn’t believe anyone.”

Donald John Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States on Tuesday. Donald Trump garnered 279 electoral votes, while Clinton earned 218.

According to S.Zolyan the policy pursued by Donald Trump won’t have a serious influence on Armenia, “I consider, Trump’s main issue is regulating the life in the USA, then interfere with the others’ affairs. Foreign policy won’t undergo serious change, maybe it’ll impact on USA-Europe relations, however, Armenia holds an insignificant position in general policy. In the interrelated world we’ll feel that, however, I don’t think so in case of direct relations. He only spoke of relations with Russia.”

According to S.Zolyan Donald Trump’s triumph is a signal, that in the USA they are tired of the elite, the society of the USA wants changes.
