Forthcoming OSCE MG ministerial meeting, to be held in Hamburg, to end with null result: S.Tarasov
“After Vienna and St. Petersburg, Azerbaijan didn’t have expectations for concessions from Armenia,” Russian political analyst Stanislav Tarasov told 168.am, reflecting to the tension in the contact line against the background of the meeting of OSCE MG, ministers of NK parties to the conflict in Hamburg in December.
According to the statement issued by NK Defense Army tension was maintained on Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact line from November 11, 12:15.
Stanislav Tarasov stated that there was an impression from recent press conferences by OSCE MG U.S. co-chair in Yerevan and Baku, that the planned ministerial meeting in Hamburg will be held, after which some results may be anticipated. According to Tarasov, there was such an impression after the statement by Azerbaijani FM that the Azerbaijani side considered that negotiations were developing in a right direction, from which they had hopes.
However, according to Tarasov Armenian FM, touching upon the possible Hamburg meeting, clarified, that he doesn’t have illusions regarding that meeting, as Azerbaijan says one thing and does another, not implementing agreements, reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg.
“This shows that although presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have met twice after the April war, they pursued quite different purposes at this negotiation stage: Azerbaijan had some expectations from Armenia on concession, however, it realized that they’re impossible after the April war, and returned to its former position on MG, and Armenia anticipated strengthening of ceasefire maintenance, which isn’t yet recorded, and under these conditions the Armenian side seems to consider these meetings senseless.
Present-day issue is the following: if there was an underground agreement on the conflict settlement scenario in Vienna and St. Petersburg, which has been repeatedly covered in this period, then the ongoing situation is natural, as the sides won’t go to concessions, in particular, following the April war, and if such lack and Azerbaijan refuses implementing agreements, reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg, which are known to us, means that Azerbaijan again attempts to cheat the international community with this policy, which won’t give any good result,” Tarasov said.
According to the latter, in case of any of the two scenarios the forthcoming meeting in Hamburg will end with null result.
