Aliyev is cut off not only from negotiations, but also from the international law, the people should define their status themselves: Shavarsh Kocharyan
“There is inferiority complex in Azerbaijan,” Shavarsh Kocharyan, RA Deputy Foreign Minister, told reporters today, reflecting to the allegation of Ilham Aliyev, that the status of autonomous republic for Karabakh may be maximal mutual concession by Azerbaijan.
Combining this statement with the observation of OSCE MG U.S. co-chair James Warlick, that they welcome that Azerbaijani president opened discussions around the status, Shavarsh Kocharyan said, that there is irony in Warlick’s observation.
“He says, look, it’s finally ready to discuss the status, which didn’t intend until now. Let this aside. What does it mean—Aliyev mentions the status? Aliyev is cut off from international law, not only from negotiations, the people decide their status for themselves. The UN Charter, Helsinki Final Act read that any nation, if wishes, without external mediation is deciding its status independently, and etc. Thus, let’s leave comments of Aliyev liked to history, essence of conflict, international law…how much we can comment that nonsense. It seems to me, there is inferiority in that country, which is expressed in different fields,” Shavarsh Kocharyan said.
To the question what Serzh Sargsyan’s statement on recognition of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity mean in an interview to Dmitry Kiselyov, Sh.Kocharyan replied, that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has no connection with NKR. “The sense is that,” the speaker said.
