About 80% of population negatively assessed activities by the Police in July during Sari Tagh developments: Gallup International
Director of Armenian representation of Gallup International association Aram Navasardyan introduced the results of the quest implemented in the period of November 2-16 in the Republic of Armenia, participants of which were 1104 citizens.
Pursuant the quest, 91% of respondents is aware of seizure of the police precinct on July 17, 2016 by “Sasna Tsrer” armed group.
Interviews have been held in 10 regions of Armenia and in all the communities of Yerevan: 33% in Yerevan and 67% in the regions.
A.Navasardyan stated that they asked the citizens: what do you think, which was the main reason of activities by “Sasna Tsrer”? 46% replied—injustice in the country.
For 41% of respondents the reason was hard socio-economic condition in the country, for 32%—lack of alternative for the regime change, for 21%—anticipation of anti-Armenian solutions in NK conflict process, for 10%—order of external powers, and 6%—hesitated to answer.
Gallup international also attempted to clarify assessment of reflection to the activity of “Sasna Tsrer” armed group. Assessment was implemented by a scale from 1 to 5 points. Respondents highly assessed work of the media outlets—3.5 points, the opposition gained 2.8 points, international organizations—2.3 points, National Security Service—2.1 points, Ambassadors, Public Council and Security Council—2 points, RA president—1.9 points, RA Police chief—1.8 points, RA Prime Minister—1.7 points, NA president—1.6 points.
The organization also attempted to clarify reflection of political figures in the activities of “Sasna Tsrer” armed group. The highest points belongs to Zaruhi Postanjyan and Nikol Pashinyan—3.4, Alek Yenikomshian—3.1, Andrias Ghukasyan and Armen Martirosyan—2.8, Edmon Marukyan—2.6, Garnik Isagulyan—2.4, and Arshak Sadoyan—2.1.
Activities of general-mayor Vitaly Balasanyan, who was negotiating with “Sasna Tsrer” group have been positively assessed for 44.9% of respondents, 15.1%—rather positive, 14%—more negative, 8.6%—totally negative, and 17.3% hesitated to answer.
To the question: what’s your assessment to the operations by RA Police during the seizure of the police precinct by “Sasna Tsrer” group in the period of July 17-31, 41.7% of respondents replied—totally negative, 26.6%—rather negative, 3.9%—totally positive, 20.3%—rather positive, and 7.6%—hesitated to answer.
Operations of RA Police during the incidents on Khorenatsi Street and in Sari Tagh was assessed totally negative by 57.9%, rather negative by 23.1%, totally positive by 2.4%, rather positive—9.7%, and 7% hesitated to answer.
