Karabakh conflict has no other alternative to peaceful settlement: Ambassador Jean-Francois Charpentier
Jean-Francois Charpentier, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia, discussing Armenia-France relations at today’s press conference, reflected to Karabakh conflict as well, stressing that OSCE MG Co-Chairs don’t save efforts to resume the dialogue, “Karabakh conflict settlement has no other alternative to peaceful settlement. The three Co-Chairs are convinced in this. The existent situation can’t be acceptable to neither party to the conflict, as casualties on both sides have been recorded, and not only during the April developments, but they continue until now on the line of contact. This situation can’t last long.”
“To record Karabakh conflict settlement, first and foremost, agreements reached on different levels during various meetings should be implemented.
At any proper moment France expresses readiness to support and host likewise meetings, like recently Francois Hollande mentioned in his speech during the meeting with the Armenian Community. In this context it’s important to realize that conflict settlement doesn’t depend on mediators, it firstly depends on the political will of the parties to the conflict,” the Ambassador told reporters on Tuesday.
Jean-Francois Charpentier considers negotiations around Madrid principles may become a ground for further settlement of the conflict.
