Election of the Council of Elders of Yerevan to be held on May 14

Armenia’s Government approved the draft decision on holding the election of the Council of Elders of Yerevan on May 14, 2017.

The draft was presented by Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Lokyan during the Government’s session on February 16. “The adoption of the Government’s draft decision on “Holding the regular election of the Council of Elders of Yerevan” is related with the expiry of the term of ofce of the Council of Elders which is dened by the 16th Article of the law on “Local self-governance in the city of Yerevan” and derives from the requirement of the Article 127 point 2 of the Electoral Code,” stated in the draft explanation.
