UN chief urges to immediately resume negotiations on NK conict settlement

António Guterres, UN Secretary-General,  is concerned over the escalation of the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conict zone and urges to maintain the ceasere regime and immediately resume the negotiations, Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the SecretaryGeneral told reporters on February 27.

“We are concerned over the reports on new clashes along the length of the line of contact in Nagorno Karabakh,” he said, stating that the UN Secretary-General supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs directed towards “reducing the dangerous level of the tension and preventing the further escalation of the situation.”

Stéphane Dujarric said the UN chief “calls on the sides to refrain from any actions that can damage the ceasere agreement and immediately resume the substantive negotiations aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conict.”
