Recording double-digit economic growth is not from fantasy genre, says Armenia’s PM

According to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, recording a double-digit economic growth in the country is not from a fantasy genre.

During today’s Cabinet meeting the PM said that according to the information of the Central Bank during the past two years the monetary-loan interest rates in Armenia have decreased by 3%. “The economic activity index grew by 8.1%. My conclusion is that recording really a double-digit economic growth is not from a fantasy genre. We have a problem with the pace of timeframes of capital investment volumes, and if this was solved effectively, the economic indicators would be higher”, he said.

According to him, currently the most important task is the planning of 2020 capital expenditures and the proper organization of tenders.

“We should not only take into account the funds envisaged by the budget, but also the additional funds which can emerge and in such case we should not discuss for weeks for what to spend them, in other words we must have ready projects on the table. Any good news also brings a certain tension so that not to lose the pace and mood, and there is only one path for that – to work, work and work, and this first of all relates to us, the government”, the PM added.
