Inclusion of European figures in internationally wanted list who visited Karabakh can be bad precedent: political scientist
The inclusion of the European figures in the internationally wanted list who visited Nagorno Karabakh can be a bad precedent, political scientist Hrant MelikShahnazaryan told “Armenpress”, commenting on Azerbaijan’s step on declaring the European figures as internationally wanted.
Of course, this can never be considered as normal. It is obvious that Azerbaijan has become a victim of its own wrong policy and consistently continues it. They have no will to stand back and review that policy. This creates a dangerous precedent, and this relates to not only the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict, but also to other international conflicts,” the political scientist said.
He said such conflicts exist in various parts of the world, and if the sides of those conflicts follow Azerbaijan’s case, that will become a serious issue in the international policy agenda.
“It is necessary to show the international community the possible consequences of Aliyev’s decisions for all the remaining countries. Works must be done on this path, it is necessary to do so that Azerbaijan’s such demands are not satisfied at all. MEPs are in the wanted list, I think this issue will be discussed in the agenda of the European Parliament. I am more than convinced that they will criticize Azerbaijan,” he said.
Azerbaijan declared MEPs Frank Engel (Luxembourg), Jaromír Štětina (Czech Republic) and Eleni Theocharous (Cyprus) as internationally wanted.
