Quality and non-quality doubts

The death attempt organized against Paruyr Hayrikyan a few days ago may radically change the political situation not only in Armenia but also around it. The question “who would benefit from this?” was asked many times and hundreds of different answers were given. These questions will be asked to the point till the culprit(s) are caught. But based on the past similar histories this case will probably never be investigated. Let’s talk about a few of those. Paruyr Hayrikyan personally with a direct text stated that he suspects Russia in ordering his death.

Indeed, he said this in his own way and the essence of the problem is not changed as a result. “In all honesty, I will first of all say that I suspect a foreign state, a country which has been chasing me for years. I don’t mean the current Russia but the Soviet Russia because this was their style of doing business. In my recent campaign speeches I highlighted the necessity of joining the EU and I didn’t rule out that it would be our dream to see Russia in the same union,” he stated.

Of course the services of the former Soviet Union do not operate on their own and if they do they do it on behalf of Russia. It’s noteworthy that a short time after this statement Premier Tigran Sargsyan stated that he doesn’t rule out any version in regard of the event, including the possibility of the order of foreign forces. And these two statements preceded a more important statement.

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Pact Nikolay Bordyuzha called the incident of Hayrikyan a very serious one and in the meantime emphasized, “I wouldn’t consider this as a death attempt and think the case should be further investigated.” This is more than interference into the affairs of another sovereign state. Bordyuzha literally stated that Russia officially doesn’t consider the incident of Hayrikyan a death attempt.

This means that the Russians without maintaining the formalities hint that the incident should be labeled differently. It’s noteworthy that after Bordyuzha’s statement the CEC chairman Tigran Mukuchyan, who during these days plays a key role, said while explaining his official attitude that Hayrikyan was a victim of armed assault. In a word, the incident with Hayrikyan alludes to the foreign influence. Fortunately, there is no death threat for Hayrikyan and we hope that he will soon recover in order to run the race (regardless of whether they are taking place as scheduled or postponed). By the way, various opinions circulate on the Internet about the possible versions of the incident and the incentives behind that.

The next version is connected with the internal players and the ones, who are unsatisfied by the conduct of elections in this scenario. They also discuss the option that Hayrikyan himself is the maker and planner of this death attempt. In the mentioned versions there might be both substantiated and absurd scenarios. The longer the investigation stretched the more absurd and unhealthy the possible assumptions will become.
