For the Sake of not Disturbing
A few days ago during the session of the NA standing committee on economic issues the RPA chair of the committee Vardan Ayvazyan spoke against the initiative of the ARF to establish an ad hoc to investigate through Nairit by mentioning that this is not the right time as negotiations are still pending.
Two days ago the minister of energy and natural resources Armen Movsisyan stated that Nairit is implementing a program with Rosneft company, therefore it is no time to establish an ad hoc.
“I don’t think it is right to establish any ad hoc now and try to ban the activities. We finally found a company which is willing to make a 500-thousand USD in the factory,” he said. Yesterday the National Assembly permanently denied the initiative of creating an ad hoc with 44 for and 55 against votes. And again the RPA members have repeated the same thought.
They said that in principle they are not against the committee but they think that it is not the right time. This is indeed a good argument. Now it is possible to get rid of bankrupt Nairit again and give it to Russians again. And who would be against this patriotic initiative? They might be considered traitors of nation. Who could sell a company with over 200 million USD to another company?
In short, we need to be silent before the next trash is sold to Russian again. Is it really trash? And will Rosneft pay that much for Nairit? The more or less official statement was made by Premier Tigran Sargsyan when he on February 24 was meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. Sargsyan said that according to the president of Rosneft Igor Sechin the company was planning to implement a 500 million USD investment program in the factory. “During the upcoming week we will already constructively discuss what conditions should be created to make these projects more realistic. Indeed, the project relates to Nairit factory because the employees of the new premise will be from Nairit,” said the Premier. Even this short statement created questions. For example, how is this company without the old Nairit planning to produce rubber if the production line is inside the factory?
The journalists yesterday tried to receive certain clarifications from the deputy-minister of energy Iosif Isayan but he avoided answering any questions about Nairit by bringing reasons that he is not engaged in the issues of the factory and that he is not Sechin. Nonetheless, Isayan mentioned that he cannot be sure if the old factory will be operated again. “I am speaking unclear because the situation is unclear,” he said. Let us remember that it has been awhile since Nairit was interested in Rosneft.
But the interest faded because according to rumors Rosneft didn’t wish to purchase Nairit with its accumulated debts. The Russian giant wanted a clear deal. The refreshment of this theme and the rumors about the 500 million USD witness that the parties were able to find ways of clearing Nairit. It is hard to say what tools they have picked.
Our colleagues are bringing up a version, according to which old methods were applied – to divide Nairit into two parts and give the part without debt to Russians. This version has been circulating since 2000 when Nairit was divided into three parts, when the production capacity was left for Nairit factory and the debts were given to the current Nairit. More illustratively said, Nairit resembles the legendary phoenix, which from time to time is resurrected into clean and debtless. And during the “important” time the opposition parties have emerged and wish to unveil how the old debts of phoenix were accumulated. That is the reason why the NA majority prevented their initiative.
