Deportation of the Prominent Public Figure by the Strategic Ally Speaks for Itself: Edmon Marukyan
“Deportation of Stepan Grigoryan from Russia is reprehensible. His cooperation with international organizations or his activity in Armenia has nothing to do with Russia. I can’t imagine, upon which criteria Grigoryan was recognized a person non-desired for Russia,” Edmon Marukyan, NA MP, member of Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, told 168.am commenting on recent occurrences with political scientist, head of the Centre for Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan at Moscow’s airport.
In his words here the Republic of Armenia should protect interests of its citizen and send a corresponding note to Russian FM for clarification and etc.
“Our Ambassador has also demanded clarification. Russians may say that it was confusion, however deportation of a prominent public figure by the strategic ally speaks for itself,” E.Marukyan said.
Earlier, on August 30 Grigoryan had arrived at Moscow’s Sheremetevo airport, where he was arrested by Russian frontiers. His entry to RF is banned until 2030. According to Stepan Grigoryan he was deported out of political motives.
