Serzh Sargsyan determined to leave

Change of the Armenian Government, sub-changes still continue and the Parliamentary elections to be held in 5 month have been moved to the backstage, or such an impression is made. To the sense, that the situation, if not that of the Government change, should have been quite different now.

Moreover, the situation is double times privileged, than it ever occurred prior to elections. Generally, during the months preceding elections, the Government is considered as “leaving,” but presently we have a “coming” Government, life of which is conditioned by the election results. To be more proper, upon the result of the Government’s activity, which will record a desired percentage for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) during the elections.

Thus, if messages of Serzh Sargsyan’s steps are clearly comprehended, this time he decided not to “hit” the percents, as he once said, but to record, i.e. to receive percents—votes, quos, those of trust. Which, first and foremost, and mostly, should provide Karen Karapetyan’s non-RPA Government, i.e. the pre-election situation, on the one hand, has double nature by the fact, that as compared to former likewise situations, the Government will more probably stay, rather than go after the elections.

Besides, the possibility of RPA’s remaining in power will be conditioned by the Government’s good job. And under this situation, naturally, political powers don’t yet orient or don’t totally orient what to do, with whom to do, through whom to do and why to do? As replies to those and many other questions, perhaps, for the first time, have been hang not by separate person or persons, even high-ranking, but from the Government’s activity. i.e. answers to the questions at least to that degree will be not subjective, as they used to, but objective, as they have never been.

And by being objective, they’ll have subjectivity to the degree, that replies will be given in form of vote, choice of Armenia’s citizens. And that means for the first time after 1991 elections in Armenia may really be free and fair. No matter how unbelievable it is. Serzh Sargsyan seems to take the most risky step in his political career for the forthcoming elections: hold transparent elections, initially having made the decision to leave if defeated.

The risk isn’t big, but is unweighably great. Possibly, about 30 years of political experience prompted that it’s a justified risk, a risk, which won’t lose, but will be over justified in case of a winning result. The loss will be his withdrawal from the power, which constitutionally will take place in 1.5 year, the benefit—the fairest elections over the last 20 years, and finally, once—development of legitimate authorities. Probably, Serzh Sargsyan decided to conclude his political career in that way, which will be an act of not leaving, but of a new beginning. Which variant will become a reality? Armenia’s citizen seems to give the answer to this question for the first time. Let it be at least once.
