17 years without a state
17 years ago—on October 27, as a result of the terror act in the Armenian National Assembly, head of executive power Vazgen Sargsyan, head of Parliament Karen Demirchyan, Ministers, MPs have been shot to death. 8 top officials. They’ve been killed as a result of villainy, committed by murderers, qualified as “a group of romantic people,” uncovering of which was qualified by the then president Robert Kocharyan as a case of the “level of district militia officer.” He gave that assessment and remained in the positon for more 9 years.
Throughout the past 17 years that “district militia officer” wasn’t found, who would be able to uncover the “October 27.” He wasn’t found, as only and exclusively the state could have appeared in that role, in the sense of real and content state, and not of identification with the leadership. He wasn’t found and by that it was recorded, that, in fact, we have lived without a state for 17 years.
If “October 27” can be uncovered only in case of state order and demand, this means, we’re living without the state as long as it’s uncovered. Instead, we have a collective of ruling and opposition elite, most representatives of which are directly or indirectly linked to October 27, some as victims and successors, some as suspects, some as benefitted as a result of the established situation.
As only as a result of October 27 the political system and the leadership, available nowadays, could have been established. Only as a result of October 27 Armenia could become vulnerable internally and externally, that the April war and seizure of the police precinct could have been recorded.
October 27 was an immeasurable and imponderable blow to the Armenian statehood. However, at least equal blow is that every day, which Armenia lives without uncovering of the “October 27.” By that Armenia’s life looks like the that of a dying patient, which is being prolonged through chemotherapy…The same speeches and repeated texts, heard for 16 years, will be delivered, the same films and photos, the same groaning will be heard. Everything will be the same…And it’ll be the same as long as Armenia lives in almost inexistent status of a shot state’s remnant.
