By that policy Turkey sets NATO up: Davit Babayan
Turkey-Azerbaijan joint military exercises on the contact line won’t have any radical impact. Davit Babayan, spokesman of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, told 168.am, stressing that Armenian Armed Forces are brought to highest readiness and the Armenian side may suspend any threat.
“However, on the whole, this leaves bad impact, as by this Turkey shows that it supports terrorist Azerbaijan. Turkey is a terrorist state as well, in fact, these two countries have a negative role on maintenance of peace and stability in the Caucasus. Such military exercises show Turkey-Azerbaijan unity, which only has bad and negative influence in Transcaucasia,” he said.
According to D.Babayan these exercises are a message not only to Armenia and Artsakh, but also to Iran, Russian Federation, “Likewise close ties endanger interests of those countries. This is also a message to NATO, as by that policy Turkey sets up entire NATO. Its representatives have repeatedly stated on necessity of peaceful settlement, maintenance of peace and stability, however by its activities Turkey undermines all, goes against NATO’s interest. This is a message to the entire civilized world.”
In his words the more ready the Armenian side is, the less repetition of “April adventure” will be, “In April 2016 the adversary underestimated us, this is a fact. He considered 22 years have passed, new generation has grown up—of social networks, Facebook, Twitter, who don’t want to fight, that there is a gap between different social layers: it had such underestimated approach and attempted to make use of the situation. This shows that the adversary attentively follows what goes on in our country.”
He said even if military exercises have been launched in one of very close neighboring countries, Armed Forces of the other are brought to readiness, which in his words, is natural.
